Thank you kindly for visiting my site. How are you? I have a bit of a sore throat so I’m wearing a scarf and telling myself more honey in the tea = healthier.

What’s new.

I’m shooting a comedy pilot for the Food Network this week where I play a scientist and let me tell you I am SO excited to be able to bring my very own lab coat to the set. When you often get cast brainy, you keep lab coats at the ready.

Next week, I’m playing the well intentioned but somewhat smothering single mom of a college student in a web series. I’m excited to go all-out dorky and embarrassing on the lovely young person playing my son. I don’t need to bring anything suggesting these things to the set; it’s obvious I’m dorky and embarrassing to cool young people the moment I open my mouth.

I recently shot a fun role in Joe Black’s new feature, “Chicks, Man,” playing an art gallery owner equally focused on getting a client to be reasonable and getting an assistant to pull her head out of her ass. Joe and I have just done a pile of editing on the short we made together and I’m looking forward to sharing it with people. Acting opposite an Oscar-winning legend and actress hero of mine was a big thrill.

Being program staff at Camp AmeriKids for another summer was a ridiculous amount of fun and I’m counting down the days until next year already. What’s a good camp theme? I’m thinking “Cheeses of the World.”

I’m still studying Croatian and have a new favorite word: pauk (“POW-ook”). It means “spider” and one of the apps I’m using constantly uses it in the sentence “pauk je ru┼żan,” which means “the spider is ugly.” I think “the spider is terrifying and needs to learn to stay in its own space which is a significant distance from my bed” is a far more compelling sentence.

I’m still reading the Bible for the first time (almost done with Exodus and amazed at the amount of times donkeys are mentioned) and studying math, two things I’ve always wanted to have a better handle on. I know, I’m a party animal.

That’s it for now. Please do contact me if you’ve got a project on which you’d like to collaborate; I’m always game to play with inspired people.

Happy eating-a-whole-pumpkin-pie-in-one-sitting-is-good-for-you season,
Dakota
